The Alliance for Media Arts + Culture / Arts2Work

The mission of the Alliance for Media Arts + Culture is to facilitate innovation, collaboration and cultural impact for the media arts field. As a national media arts service organization, we are a network of networks; we embolden creative media organizations + artists and connect them with the world. The vision of the Alliance is a world where media artists and organizations are acknowledged leaders in a thriving global community where the media industry is truly equitable, and opportunity is available for anyone who dreams of a creative career.

Through a suite of forward-thinking and mission-aligned core programs, The Alliance serves a dynamic network of artists and organizations committed to powerful creative storytelling as an engine for social change and the collective imagination. We work to preserve and celebrate diverse cultures and champion free expression as the common language of a democratic society. Our Core Programs are designed to connect, nurture and develop media arts organizations, independent artists/leaders and the communities they serve. Core Programs include the Innovation Studio, where we research and prototype new technology, pedagogy and approaches to creative production -- and make new tools available for the field. Recent projects in the Studio include the XR Culture Gallery, the Smithsonian Futures We Dream exhibition, and the Open Archive Initiative. Other core programs include Arts2Work, a paradigm-shifting creative workforce initiative that includes the first federally-registered Apprenticeship program in Media Arts and Creative Technologies, Youth Media Network and Fellows Program, and Creative Leadership, including the Creative Leadership Lab and Executive Director Roundtables.

Arts2Work

Arts2Work is a national initiative led by The Alliance for Media Arts + Culture, providing new infrastructure and economic sustainability for creative workers, businesses, organizations, youth and underserved communities across the United States. It includes the first ever federally-registered National Apprenticeship Program in media arts and creative technologies, the Arts2Work Accelerator Fund, Arts2Work Creative Studios, and Arts2Work PRE, a pre-Apprenticeship program for youth. Embedded in all aspects of Arts2Work are collective workplace policies to build diversity with intention, prioritize equal pay, and prevent sexual harassment. The target populations served include low-income communities, artists of color, women, youth, veterans and the disabled. Arts2Work is a revolutionary blueprint for the future of work and a new model of reform for the digital generation.

Creativity, access, and opportunity are core values of Arts2Work. Our growth strategy includes deepening strategic partnerships with local media industry leaders, educators, high-impact social entrepreneurs, educational institutions and community organizations with an innovative program that meets the needs and fills the skills gap for 21st century employers. Through this initiative, we provide the technology, tools, curricula, mentor training, access to certified instruction and an on-the-job learning framework that makes creative Apprenticeship the bridge to the future of work.
